Beauty and the Beast Review

When coming up with my most anticipated films of 2017, I admitted that everyone has their guilty pleasures and that the 1991 Oscar Nominated version has always been one of mine.

In the weeks leading up to the premiere, my girlfriend and I occupied our car rides with the Beauty and the Beast pandora station, re-memorizing all our old favorites. So, to say we had high expectations would be an understatement.

We knew we had to temper our hopes, but as we left the theater, we were dumbfounded. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast brought all the nostalgia one could hope for, created interesting and deeper characters, and made you believe, if only for 2 hours, that magic exists.

Were this an original film and not a remake, I would be hard-pressed to not give it a 9 or 10 out of 10, but because (aside from a little more character development) it is mostly a beautifully recycled version of the 1991 film, I will give it an 8.5/10. So far it is the 2nd best film I’ve seen this year.
